National Banks

Many countries have made their own arrangements for rapid access to 'emergency' FMD vaccines. The national FMD banks comprise strategic vaccine and/or antigen reserves. One example is the German National FMD Bank which comprises 10 strains of FMD as both formulated vaccine and concentrated, inactivated antigen. Other national banks are held by Switzerland, The Netherlands and Austria.
