Collection of Samples - Introduction |

|
The material of choice for laboratory diagnosis of FMD is epithelium from unruptured and
recently ruptured vesicles. Vesicular fluid can also be used. If vesicular material is not
available, other samples may be diagnostically useful. However, it is important to
emphasise that vesicular material is the most important sample to collect whenever possible. |
