Differential Diagnosis

Cattle - Mouth and/or Nares

 

Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis

 

Presence of anorexia, high fever, severe hyperaemia of the nasal mucosa accompanied by development of localised necrotic foci on the mucous membranes of the nasal septum. Sudden fall of milk production in severe cases in milking animals. Serous discharge from the nares. Conjunctivitis and eye discharge. Excess salivation. Signs of respiratory involvement and coughing. High case fatality rate in newborn calves with affected animals showing several of the foregoing clinical signs.

Differentiated from FMD by the absence of vesicular lesions, respiratory signs and lameness.
